Ukrainian Events and Organisations

Here you can find some additional information about the events that are carried out in Vienna as well as the organisation TUMA. A significant importance should be paied to TUMA, because the two interviewed persons are members of it. Also, as an organisation, it plays an important role for the Ukrainian minority in Austria as well as for this research project.

International Literature MERIDIAN CZERNOWITZ

International Literature MERIDIAN CZERNOWITZ took place on the 9th-11th of November 2017 in the Exhibition Center in Vienna. Organizational support was provided by Ukrainian Embassy in Vienna and OeAD Organisation. During these three days almost 500 Ukrainian authors, a variety of poetic readings, discussions and lectures were presented. The forum also offered an opportunity to present two joint Ukrainian-European publishing projects and a new novel by one of Ukraine’s most popular writers Yuriy Andrukhovych “The Lexicon of Intimate Cities”.

Movie Session “Bitter Harvest” held on 13th of December 2017

"Bitter Harvest" is the first internationally released film about one of the most overlooked tragedies of the 20th-century - famine, the death‑by‑starvation from 7 to 10 million Ukrainian people, called "Holodomor" in Ukraine and orchestrated by Joseph Stalin, in the 1930th, which is recognized in many countries as Genocide.  “Bitter Harvest” is nominated for Best Film 2017 by the Political Film Society, the USA and Canada in four Categories as Best Movie for: peace, democracy, human rights, cultural heritage.  Nearly 100 visitors were present.

TUMA Ukrainian Youth Association in Austria

The Ukrainian Youth Association in Austria (TUMA in Ukrainian) is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit organization. It was founded by a group of young Ukrainians living in Vienna in 2010. It is a team of creative youngsters who are willing to create new and are ready to perform and undertake new tasks and projects. Their sources of success and motivation are open-mindedness, optimism, searching for the best in everyone and everything and mutual support among their team members.

Ukrainian Ball in Vienna on the 17th of Februar 2018

This year Ukrainian Ball takes place in the Auersperg Palace on 17th of February. This magnificent charity event will be organised by the Ukrainian Youth Association in Austria (TUMA) and Ukrainian Embassy in Wien for the third time.

On February, 17th the Palais Auersperg will open its doors once again for the hundreds of guests who are going to spend an unforgettable night full of music, dance, elegance in Ukrainian traditions in the company of beautiful people from different countries.

The tickets have to be booked in advance.
