Who are we?
We are two young students that study "Applied Linguistics" as master programme at the University of Vienna in Austria. As part of a seminar on minority research, we decided to investigate within our research project, the Ukrainian minorities in Austria. The reason why we created a team was our mutual interest in the topic as well as the curiosity to discover more about this minority group, since they have a strong common historical background with the Austrian society.
What we investigate?
The main topic of this project is the construction and preservation of cultural identity by means of language of allochthonous Ukrainian minorities in Austria. In the present study, we tried to analyse the position of the allochthonous Ukrainian minorities in the Viennese society as well as the implementation of their language as an instrument for the construction and preservation of their cultural identity.
